What is red light therapy?
On Star Trek when someone is injured, they are taken to sick bay where the doctor uses a laser to heal the patient instantly. This laser is what we talk here red light & near infrared (IR). We make those (just not quite as instant) it contain two wave-lengths Red Light & Near Infrared. The Infrared (IR) light spectrum is not visible to the human eye. The light will look as if it is not on, but is operating properly.
Red light & near infrared (IR) therapy sometimes known as Low Level Laser Therapy (LLLT) or Low-Level Light Therapy or Photobiomodulation (PBM) is a low intensity light therapy. The effect is photochemical not thermal. The light triggers biochemical changes within cells and can be compared to the process of photosynthesis in plants, where the photons are absorbed by cellular photoreceptors and triggers chemical changes.

660nm and 850nm is the human body optical window, which means these wavelengths have the ability to penetrate skin, soft/hard tissue and are proved in dinical trials to have a good effect on pain, inflammation and tissue repair.
The 660nm and 850nm wavelengths are chosen because these 2 wavelengths can act on different depths of the cortex, which means they have therapeutic effect for different skin layers. This is the unique feature compared to other similar products with different wavelengths.

Is the red light a laser light?
No, it is LED Red light. So, it is safe to use. But don't let the light hit your eyes directly.
What is wavelength of the red light device?
The Youlumi@ red light therapy device uses two wavelengths: 660nm & 850nm.
Can I use the device every hour?
Will the higher frequency of usage than instruction help to heal faster?No, using it more frequently than every 8 hours will not improve results and could reduce efficacy, please follow our dosage instruction.
How long does it take for me to feel any improvements?
It depends on the severity; it may provide relief almost immediately and it could shorten the healing time than normal.
Can I put device directly on the skin?
Yes. You may touch unbroken skin with the device.
When using the device, shall I move it around or finish the 1 minute session before moving to another spot?
Our recommended usage is to apply a full dose on one spot before moving to another one.
What are the side effects?
red light therapy is LED light, So rest assured that the LED light will not harm you (it's not laser). Red LED light is a safe and effective treatment for pain relief, injury healing. Obviously, red light has no side effects. Another safety benefit of LED incoherent red light is that it cannot be used to cut or burn like a coherent laser light.
How does it feel to use?
Light irradiation will produce a slight heat sensation, but you might feel different because everyone has different tolerance. We recommend a 1cm irradiation distance. If you feel hot during use, please increase the irradiation distance appropriately.
Is the product waterproof?
This product is not waterproof, please do not splash water during use.
Can all USB power sources drive this infrared physiotherapy device?
The minimum drive condition for infrared physiotherapy is 5V, 1.2A; most mobile phones and tablet USB power supplies meet this condition. If the current is less than 1.2A, the product can work, but the output light efficiency will be lower than the standard value; if the current is greater than 1.2A, this has no effect on the light efficiency of the product, and the product has a constant current controller inside.
Why is one of LED light source not bright (not working)?
850nm is invisible to the naked eye, so you cannot see the light; special equipment is needed to measure the light effect; please rest assured that it is working. All the devices we ship have been tested 100%.
Does the device include batteries?
The device itself has no battery and needs to be connected to a USB power supply. Because the power of the device is relatively high, the battery will run out quickly.
