Introduction of The Fusse Skeleton Clock
The unusual feature of this clock is the tapered gear controlling the output of the spring bareel to improve the timekeeping. Known as 'fusee'- aname thought to have come from the Latin'fusata' meaning a spindle of thread-this device lessens the power from the fully wound spring and increases as the barrel unwinds, so wvening out the torque to the clock train. The movement is 15- day, endulum with a single strike on passing the hour.
Here is an excellent fusee cable driven skeleton clock. It has an unique scissor theme design. The clock is driven by fusee cable with 2 pendulums. That's right!! This clock has 2 pendulums, which you hardly see on any other clocks. The complete clock is about 21" tall and 13" by 8". The clock is sitting on a polished wood base with a drawer for you to store the winding key. The clock body is built by heavy brass. The clock hands are also in scissor shape slowly turning around the porcelain dial. The most unique part of this clock is the double pendulum. While the clock is running, the 2 scissor style pendulums are swinging and crossing each other simultaneously. This clock is rarely seen in any clock shops. So make sure you add this one into your display or collection. This clock is not old, but with its swinging motion, it makes this clock a really eye catcher.
